The final few hours of the residential saw the year 12 take part in a debate on whether or not free speech should be limited, the question that has been the focus of their personal investigation this week. Some very insightful points were raised, and it was fantastic to see the group interacting in such an intelligent and well thought out manner. The final mentor lesson looked at the recurrence of the concept of Empire in World History, a very interesting end! Furthermore, the year 10 took part in an interactive session on entrepreneurship, and once again the fantastic personality of the cohort was able to shine through.

This was the first residential which saw all four cohorts on the programme staying in the same place at the same time, and the resultant atmosphere was absolutely great. The sense from all those involved over the course of this residential, teachers, mentors, AAF staff, partner organisations and outsider providers, as well as most importantly our students themselves, has clearly been that our students are progressing well, benefit immensely from their experiences of the programme and their interactions with each other, and that the KAN APP is in a very healthy place. The AAF would like to take this opportunity to once again thank all those who have played a role in making this week such a success, and to wish our students all the very best in any exams they may be taking between now and the next time we see them.

Things are moving on apace for the AAF, with our first cohort now fully through their four years on the programme, a new cohort chosen for the APP to begin a fifth year in July, and United Access with United Learning kicking off in the summer, and there are exciting times ahead.

Until the next time…
