There was a fantastic moment this afternoon which saw students and mentors simultaneously engaged in revision, demonstrating the immense benefit our students can take from working so closely with mentors who are so driven and committed to their own studies. The fabulous example set by our mentors and the strength of the relationships established between mentors and mentees are key to what we set out to achieve, and we are continually grateful for their contribution to our work.

The morning started for the year 12 with a session from the Higher Education Access Network (HEAN) focusing on personal statements. The workshop HEAN ran, as ever, was exceptional, and it was enjoyed by students and mentors alike, with mentors looking forward to getting stuck in supporting their mentees in this phase of their application! HEAN’s sensible and effective approach is much appreciated by all those involved in our programme, and we look forward to continuing to find ways to collaborate in future.

The diet of extension lessons has continued for the year 10, with Physics, Art, Economics and Geography on offer over the course of today. The teachers involved came from across the network, and all commented on the positive nature of their experiences working with our students – great to hear!

Both cohorts have just headed off for another highlight of the week – the swimming pool, and there are scores a plenty to settle on the table tennis table, the chess board and Mario Kart in free time this evening! Just under 24 hours to go…
